Target

I have set a target for myself this year. I need to make at least S$4X,XXX monthly but I am no where near. Not even 10% close to the monthly target. When can I ever hit it? :-(

Recently a friend refer someone to me. The deal was closed and I prepared an Ang Bao of S$200. She refused to take it. Is S$200 too small an amount?

Productivity????

A recent encounter makes me wonder what is the meaning of productivity????

I was smoking outside HDB Hub when 2 officers from the Suppression Custom apporached me. They have requested to inspect the cigarette. No question asked and I gave it to them. As a regular visitor to Malaysia, I usually will bring back a pack on my way home. Passing the immigration custom has never been an issue even with the pack of cigarette. But then, this is not the case when one consumed it openly in public and tax wasn't paid when entering Singapore.

I told the officers that it was my last cigarette from my last visit to Malaysia. They asked for proof of receipt which I no longer kept. They checked my bag and couldn't find any more cigarettes. Then they issued me a letter requesting me to pay a visit to 21 Keppel Road and produce proof of visit to Malaysia. Hmmm..... I wonder why?

Upon my visit to Keppel Road, the officer attended to me inform me that the proof is insufficient. It should be this, that & etc..... I wonder why I wasn't told in the first place. Then she told me I can make an appeal which I don't think I have the time to waste on this matter. I rather pay the fine there and then rather then go through all these. They officers who caught me could have offered me an alternative, to pay now or appeal.

The lady officer explained to me that without paying taxes, all cigarettes brought into Singapore are illegal. For those regular visitors to Malaysia, please bear in mind about this clauses. I offered to pay the fine of $500 and their system wasn't able to accept the payment at that very moment as it was not updated. She suggested that I make my payment at AXS probably 2 days later.

About 30 mins ago, I received a call from the lady officer who attended to me earlier. She informed me that the system is updated and it is now possible to make the payment. But in case the system didn't work well when I make my payment, I will have to return to 21 Keppel to do so personally. ??????????????????????????????????????????

I wonder what is all this about? ICA never bothered about cigarettes without paying taxes. Ignorant people like me think that since ICA never stopped so it is not an issue. Even offer to pay a fine is so difficult. Do these people think we are so free???

I have heard enough from people dealing with certain authorities. Appeal being misplaced and received a Court order. Departments pushing responsibilities. Conversations with officers and emails received from same department / authority have different requirements & etc...... If the promotion of Productivity is in this way, think most of us have done it - "Productivity".

1st HDB transaction

A few months back, friend came to me and ask me to sell his unit at Strathmore.
I was very excited and as I have never sold any HDB before. My past records were all private properties.

Checked on HDB website and the unit I sold has been lodged. Transacted at $615,000.

Poor or "Poor"???

A friend ever claimed that she has no money but has money for $6000 worth of other things. Does this mean she is poor?

Today, after having lunch, Sia and me were relaxing, sipping our drinks when a old man apporached us.

Uncle: "Have you taken your lunch?"
Me: "Yes"
Uncle: " I have no wife, no children and no money to buy food."

Okay, Uncle is begging for money. Maybe if I give him a few dollars, he will leave.

Uncle: "Can you buy me some food to eat?"

My heart sank. He doesn't want money. He wants food and probably hasn't been eating for days looking at his small built body. You know, there are people out there asking for money so that they can buy alcohol, cigarette and maybe drug. I was doubtful about this uncle till the moment he ask for food only.

Uncle: "I will only take vegetables and will not take meat. Will you buy me some food?"

Brought him to the mixed veg rice stall and he really just select vegetables with rice. I felt sad for this 84 years old uncle. When he was done picking the dishes, Sia told him to pick some meat dishes. That very moment, Uncle was delighted and picked a fish. This meal will probably last him a few meals.

Think I have taken things for granted. There were times I never finished my meal and here, there is an uncle who won't know when is his next meal.

Being Property Agent

A job switch for me. I have never like being a Salesperson and now I have been in the job of selling properties for almost 5 months. At first, I thought why don't I try since I am getting tired of being given a price tag by others. But within a month in the job, I begin to like it. Not that it is an easy job but just that this give me more freedom to do my own thing (Study) whenever I feel like it.
You are your own boss, you decide how much you would like to be paid.

When I first joined the project at Telok Kurau without much training, I told myself that I must at least sell somthing within the first 3 months. Well, I consider myself fortunate that I managed to sell the Penthouse within 1 month in the the job and 2 weeks in the project. Thereafter, I seemed to get the flow of selling and managed to sell 2 more units from the same project. :-)

Now that I have moved to Lush on Holland. Wish I still have the luck. If I can sell at least 2 units there, then, I think I am really lucky. Min $2,000,000 per unit.
